It's here!!!

The TomTom Point-of-Interest file is now fully tested and available via the link below.

As requested, for clarity Transport Cafes, Vans and Pubs are now prefixed.
Transport Cafe's [T], Vans [V] and Pubs [P].

All cafes are positioned exactly exactly the same as the site, not by postcode or guess work!

The file(s) will be updated regularly so make sure you come back to the site often and download the latest version and don't forget if you spot a decent café on your journeys, share it with the rest of us ... by adding it to the site.

Don't forget to join the mailing list ... so I can inform you each time the file is updated.

Cheers!

Dave.

Note: There is 2 sets of instructions, depending on which TomTom software you are using. TomTomHome is first (these Tomtom's can be viewed and accessed in the same way as a USB stick can.

See below for the newer MyTomTom software.

Instructions for adding it to your TomTom Home.

Download POI Fry Up File Version 4.45 - 445 Cafes - September 2012

  1. Download the .zip file from the link above and save it to your desktop.
  2. Un-Zip it ... Windows will do this for you if you double-click on it.

  3. You need to drop these 2 files onto either your TomTom memory card or into the TomTom itself if you use TomTom home.
  4. Place the TomTom memory card into your card reader or plug your TomTom in to it's USB port.
  5. Open 'My Computer' then click on the TomTom drive/device that has appeared.
  6. Open the map directory that is named similar to the 2nd image below.
  7. Drop and drag these 2 files into the Map directory.  If you have more than one map directory, add the files to all of them.

Note: When updating your TomTom with a newer version of the POI file, you only need the OV2 file, but you must delete the original first.

Click on Install.

With the image file installed...

Press Browse again, and locate the .ov2 file on the desktop, double-click on it or click on it and press open ...

Click on Install.

With the both files installed ... ready to go!

Important: The first time I did this, the POI wasn't showing, even after re-booting the TomTom. I phoned TomTom (0845 045 0353) and the person that answered the phone had come across this once or twice before. He recommended uninstalling the files, re-booting the TomTom and re-installing. This worked fine,

Note: When updating your TomTom with a newer version of the POI file, you only need the OV2 file, but you must remove the original one first.
